Humbug is a fairly large chunky bear dating from c. 1930s. He's probably an English bear, although he also has the look of some French bears about him, so that can't be totally ruled out. He's fully wood wool stuffed and in quite good condition with a little fur loss mainly near the arm joints, and muzzle although this gives the impression of being shaven as many snouts were at that time. We estimate he's still got a good 85% coverage. There is some faint fading of colour to his face but this is minor. His paw pads are in excellent condition, and his eyes are clear with traces of enamel on the back. Humbug is fully jointed and has a great face. He measures about 21 inches tall.
Harold is a wonderful Chad Valley bear dating from the 1930s. He is fully jointed and has excellent coverage of good quality mohair with only very minimal loss . He has his original early Chad Valley label embroidered in red on the foot, which as old bear collectors will know, adds to his desirability. His upper two felt paw pads are replacements, and the foot pads originals with one or two sewing repairs which are not too noticeable. His amber glass eyes are also replacements. Harold really has the 'look', measuring about 19 inches. Chad Valleys of his age in similar condition do not come along every day, so we were pleased to find him.
Let me introduce you to our latest Farnell bear, Maestro. He measures 16 inches from head to toe, is fully jointed, and has quite a lot of mohair left (at least 75%) with some general thinning. He has 3 original rexine paw pads which have surface wear, and 1 replacement linen pad to one of his upper paws. His front closing seam appears to have been resewn at some point. He has a wood wool stuffed head and kapok body and limbs with an inoperative growler. Maestro has a great look - he's a typical Farnell character.
Ralph is a funny old Alpha Farnell bear, dating from the late 1950s. Ralph has reasonable mohair coverage with overall thinning. He has his original rexine paw pads , the surface has worn away, but they are still strong. Ralph has sewn in plastic eyes (as opposed to the later safety type). At s ome time in his life Ralph has been given a little red tongue (or it could be lips!) by a probably young owner. Ralph is fully jointed and measures approximately 19 inches.
Goldie is another of our latest Chiltern arrivals. She has a pretty face and good covering of mohair with only minor thinning. Her rexine paw pads show quite a bit of wear to the surface, down to the backing in the case of one paw, but no holes. She is fully jointed with an inoperative squeaker and true to her name, is a nice golden colour. Goldie measures about 13.5 inches tall.
Peanut is a Chiltern Hugmee dating from the late 1950s - 1960s. He is fully jointed with inoperative squeaker, with velveteen paw pads. He is in nice condition for his age with very good mohair coverage. He has the typical Chiltern "dog nose" of the era. Peanut measures approximately 14.5 inches from ears to toes. Altogether he's a very nice little bear.
Blondie is a gentle and pretty light furred Chiltern from the 40s-50s era. She is fully jointed with a good covering of mohair. She has rexine paw pads which show some wear but no holes, and an inoperative squeaker. She has the shield shaped embroidered nose typical of her age, and original amber glass eyes. This sweet bear measures about 14 inches tall.
Snowball is a big fluffy Merrythought Cheeky from the 1970s who would make a lovely addition to a collection of Cheekies. He is in very good condition apart from a few fairly insignificant issues: his foot label is faded and coming away from the foot pad, there a little fraying at the end of a muzzle seam, and a virtually unnoticeable faint watermark under the eye. Snowball is a typically happy looking Cheeky with bells in his ear. He's approximately 17 inches tall, but being plump, looks bigger.
Mary is an old and well loved Merrythought bear from the 1930s. She has lots of charm, and even retains her Merrythought 'wishbone' button on her back. She has replacement
felt paw pads - one has a hole designed to see her label through. She retains approximately 30-40% of her wavy mohair, and has a 'perky' air about her. She is quite small, measuring about 13 inches tall.
Wesley is an old English bear c. 1920s. He is fully jointed, and has the upturned snout that was often found on bears of this age. His remaining mohair is thinly spread. He has
replacement paw pads and one replacement (old) eye which is slightly smaller than the other. His leg joints have quite a lot of play in them and he has an inoperative squeaker.
Wesley is wood wool stuffed throughout, and measures 14.5 inches tall.
Petula is a delightful Merrythought bear dating from the 1950s. Her fur is a mohair/wool mix, and has good coverage, with some thinning around her head area, and very little elsewhere. She has felt paw pads with a few very small holes, and her Merrythought Ironbridge label on one pad. She has glass eyes, and we think her nose may have been re-embroidered. Petula comes with her pretty hat (we regret the pram is not included!). She measures about 13 inches tall.

Claude is a handsome Chiltern bear from the 1950s. He has excellent mohair coverage, with velveteen paw pads which card lined feet. The card on one foot (as often happens) is poking through the seam of the pad. Claude has amber glass eyes and is missing some of the embroidered claws on his feet. He is fully jointed and measures about 14 inches tall. He is a very nice bear for his age.
Wincey is an unusual very small teddy bear dating from c. 1930s. He is fully disc jointed and has linen paw pads, an embroidered nose and mouth, and little glass eyes. Wincey has thick mohair plush with only a little loss at the back of one leg. He has one or two sewing repairs on the seams, but on the whole he is in very good condition for his age. Wincey is quite a rare little teddy and would make a lovely addition to a collection of tiny bears. He measures approximately 8 inches.
Danny is a dear little Chad Valley Magna teddy, dating from c. 1930s. He is fully jointed with replacement paw pads and replacement glass eyes, and a few claws are missing/coming adrift. He has only minor overall mohair thinning and is a very perky little teddy. He measures approximately 12.5 inches tall.

Cyril is a Chiltern panda dating from late 1930s. He retains most of his black fur, but the white mohair has all but worn away from his tummy with a little more on his face. He has some faint fabric staining to his tummy but his is not too noticeable. He has the traditional Chiltern claw grouping on his feet, and the embroidered claws are a cream colour as opposed to the usual black. He has linen paw pads and his clear glass eyes with surrounding felt have been replaced. He has a lovely expression and comes with a stripey woolly. He is fully jointed and measures about 13.5 inches tall.
Chubby is a delightful fully jointed small Alpha Farnell teddy bear dating from c. 1930s-1940s. He has got the
traditional Farnell quizzical expression and has light coloured mohair. His paw pads have been replaced
as have his glass eyes. He has approximately 75% of his nice quality mohair left. He has an inoperative
squeaker and measures 11-12 inches tall.
Hairy Henry is a 1940s Chiltern. He has a nice covering of mohair with a small amount of loss to his tummy and only very minor thinning elsewhere. He has rexine paw pads which have some surface wear. Henry is fully jointed with clear glass eyes which are possible old replacements - one eye has a couple of little flaws in it, but it does not detract from his appearance. Henry measures approximately 14 inches tall.
Victor is a nice Chad Valley dating from the second half of the 1950s (he still has his 'Queen Mother' label, although it is onlyattached by one side). Victor retains a good 75% of his mohair, his rexine paw pads show surface wear, and one has a split corresponding to one side of the label. Victor's body is kapok stuffed, and his head is wood wool stuffed. Victor is quite a tall bear, measuring about 19 inches.
Petra is a wonderful early bear. She is fully jointed with original linen paw pads and a very pronounced upturned snout. Petra's obvious characteristic is that she has pinky mohair. It should be pointed out that she did not start out life with it, but exposure to the sun caused her originally golden fur to change colour. The original colour can be seen inside her ears and around the joints. Petras eyes seem to be replacements, and she has one or two seam repairs. Her fabric is strong, and she is in reasonably good condition for her age. She has a good 80% mohair coverage and measures a little over 14 inches tall.
Elsie is a 1940s Chiltern bear, who wears an attractive old bonnet, and an old bib with her name embroidered on it. She has all original features, and an inoperative growler. Her mohair coverage is good, approximately 85%. Her rexine paw pads show wear, particularly to the feet, but have no holes. Elsie is approximately 14 inches tall.
Patterson is a funny old Merrythought bear dating from c. 1940s or maybe even slightly earlier. He has a good 60% mohair coverage with loss mainly on the tummy and face areas both of which have very faint fabric marks.
His glass eyes are replacements, but nose and mouth stitching appears to be original along with his claws, some of which are coming adrift. Unusually, his original felt pads are in good condition and he also has his Merrythought foot label which adds to his desirability. Patterson's body and limbs are stuffed with kapok, making him a nice soft bear, and his head with wood wool. He measures a little over 15 inches.

Orlando is a nice looking little Chiltern from the late 1950s. He has got some overall thinning to his mohair and a few small areas of loss, but I estimate that he has a good 75% coverage. He has the traditional Chiltern plastic 'dog' nose of the era. His rexine paw pads have surface wear, but no actual holes. He has an inoperative growler and an enquring expression. Orlando is fully jointed and measures approximately 15 inches.

Percy is a delightful little white bear from the 1960s and a product of the Twyfords company.
He is 'soft' stuffed throughout, and has pink velvet pads. We are unsure whether the pads are original as we have not come across this type of bear with similar pads before. However, they are so well done that we did not want to disturb them.
Percy is in excellent condition, with 99% of his lovely white mohair fur intact.
Percy measures approximately 13 inches, and is a lovely quality little bear. Regretfully the chair is not included as he has to share it with the other bears!
Mona is a typical Chad Valley bear - her name derives from the rather strange growl she makes from time to time. She is quite heavy which seems to be partly due to her internal growl. She has lost her foot label, but still has the Chad Valley label that you sometimes find in the side seam. Mona has at least 50-60% mohair remaining, her rexine paw pads show wear going through to the sub stuffing on a couple of paws. Mona measures about 16 inches tall.
